Packing for the Summer Holiday

There are a few easy tips to abide by when packing for a trip for summer vacation. They increase the speed at which you pack and make packing easy. Packing becomes overwhelming once the summer destination is chosen. The number of children determines the extent to which packing can be. It starts by planning for summer vacation a week before.

Each child should have his or her column. Every member of the trip should have a different list. Cross every item packed on each list. Items to be packed at the end must have an asterisk. Items usually packed at the end are a monitor, snacks and children’s favorite sheet. A duplicate copy of the packed list must be kept for use before returning from the summer vacation.

Pack kids clothes in a plastic zip-lock. This is a relatively new step in the process of packing. You will love it as it makes traveling much easier. Each outfit should be given a zip-lock. The zip-lock bag can contain everything you need. The zip-lock bag will have socks, tops, headband, underwear, and bracelets among many more.

It is fun and easy as every outfit goes to every bag. Kids are good to go! Grab one and the child has everything he or she needs. Pack clothes that do not catch dirt easily. Avoid having children share clothes. Each should have their own. Sharing is tempting but should be avoided. Sharing is a recipe for confusion. Putting various things in one bag will disorganize the entire exercise. Label each traveling bag with the child’s name.

Make sure that kids also participate in packing. Allow them to play a role in packing. It teaches them responsibility and increases excitement for the summer trip. Kids should pack a few things among them a pair of pajamas, a few books and two or three toys! They become busy when they pack and derive joy.

A bag for toiletries can be shared. It is sensible to have all bathroom items in one bag. This is because everyone will be preparing to be in the bathroom. There are items that you buy for kids for the trip and discard them after the trip. There are times the trip such as cruising do not need toiletries. However, this is a summer vacation hence; they are mandatory. Items like toothbrushes can be found cheaply for the trip only. Throw away the brushes after the vacation. The quality is poor.

Let kids buy at the destination what can be found there. Leave room for purchasing anything on the road. You could buy for them some snacks for use while on the road and let them buy more on arrival. Groceries for instance, can always be bought in the destination. The zip-lock will contain everything needed in the trip. Train kids to clean their rooms before they leave. It teaches them responsibility and increases excitement for the summer trip.
